Covid-19 has killed, for now, the public’s return to the Yale University Art Gallery.
The gallery announced in a release Friday morning that it is indefinitely closing its doors to public visitors “until further notice” “in accordance with Yale University’s revised Covid-19 protocols.”
The gallery had been allowing people to reserve timed-entry tickets to enable some public viewing while maintaining social distancing an lowered occupancy rates during the coronavirus.
“If you have a timed-entry ticket for this weekend, we will be canceling your tickets, but we wish to offer you an opportunity — when we do reopen to the public — of first right of refusal for future ticket reservations,” the gallery’s release stated. “When we know more about our reopening date, we will be in touch with you via email.”
More overkill. Our museums are rarely crowded, including YUAG. If restaurants are open for indoor dining, surely museums can be open for masked, socially distant visitors.
