YNHH To Buy 3 More Hospitals

YNHH is creating a monopoly in physician practices and hospitals. They have the highest rates in the state.

When is the state going to step in to prevent the consolidation and monopolizing of healthcare services and hospital services in the state? Private insurances are going to drop providers from their networks if the monopoly of YNHH creates higher prices, which means the patients are going to have a lot harder time finding providers that their insurances allow in network, which means much higher out of pocket costs for out of network care for patients, longer travel times to get to providers for patients, and will make it harder to find insurers willing to cover CT patients. Many hospitals in the state are consolidating or eliminating on/gyn departments, making female healthcare and pregnancy higher risk in CT, with longer travel times for care, less access to care, and potentially more mother-infant deaths due to not getting care in a timely manner for births and pre-Natal care. The state must step up to address these consolidation and monopolization and elimination of services to protect women, children, poor patients with limited transportation, as well as the rural patients and the rest of us that will be impacted by this business practice.

I’m Thoroughly disgusted at Yale monopolizing the healthcare industry in our state. When are state reps going to step in and say enough is enough. It is a to service to Connecticut residence to not have choice. The state should be getting big bucks from Yale’s health industry and that money should be paid just first throughout the towns that it occupies. In addition Yale‘s services and reputation is rapidly going downhill. It does not provide the best care. It’s infection rate is one of the highest in the Northeast region.

Dovetailing on BuShu. My dad had a tumor in his leg. Soft tissue sarcoma. Smilow radiated it for five weeks before taking the tumor out. More tumors came back within six months. Smilow recommended amputation of the leg. Dad had a voicemail with the name and number of the amputee support group when he got home. We took him to Sloan Kettering. They indicated they never amputate if it’s not in the bone. No radiation since that doesn’t help, especially with healing. They remove the tumors and he was walking again within a month of surgery without assistance. That was four years ago.
Ps. Years earlier, they had tattooed him for removal of the prostate. Took him to Sloan Kettering, they told him no need to remove it since it was slow moving. That was 17 years ago and no surgery scheduled.
