Yale New Haven Health has signed an agreement to buy three more hospitals containing nearly 750 beds across the state.

Hospital spokesperson Mark D’Antonio announced that planned acquisition and expansion in a Thursday morning email press release.

He wrote that YNHH and Prospect Medical Holdings Inc. have signed an agreement for YNHH to acquire two Connecticut health systems” from Prospect.

If the deal is approved by state regulators, YNHH would acquire Waterbury Hospital (which has 357 certified beds”), Manchester Memorial Hospital (249 certified beds), and Rockville General Hospital (102 certified beds).

YNHH already runs seven hospital campuses across Connecticut and Rhode Island, including New Haven’s York Street and St. Raphael campuses.

According to the press release, Waterbury Hospital and Manchester Hospital currently have approximately 2,900 employees, and would go from being for-profit to nonprofit.

The agreement includes the health systems’ related businesses, real estate assets, physician clinic operations and outpatient services, and it is subject to customary regulatory approvals, with both organizations targeting completion of the transaction later this year.”
