Police are looking into whether operations of an after-hours nightclub had any connection to a shooting in the Hill neighborhood early Sunday.
Here’s what happened, according to police spokesman Officer David Hartman:
People called 911 at around 3:30 a.m. to report a person shot on Davenport Avenue. Police went to the scene and discovered a 41-year-old man with “several gunshot wounds to his legs, arm, abdomen and foot. He told police he’d been the victim of a robbery. He said the shooter confronted him outside.” The victim is currently listed in critical condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Police obtained from a witness a description of a possible suspect: “a light complexioned young black man who is thin and tall. He was said to have worn brown cargo pants. He was said to have been armed with a black pistol. The witness said he fled the scene on foot.”
An after-hours club operates at the address where the man was shot.
Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call detectives at (203)-946‑6304.
