A night of drinking in West Haven ended in an argument between two friends back home in New Haven — and a murder.
So police reported Saturday.
Here’s what they said happened:
The two male friends spent the night drinking at Lager House in West Haven. One man drove the other home to Farren Avenue. The driver’s girlfriend was in the car, too.
The male friends got into argument at that point. Police believe it may have been over a monetary debt the driver owed the other man.
The other man — believed to be on drugs — allegedly pulled out a gun and fired three times at the driver.
He hit him twice — “once in the chest, once the head,” said top East Shore cop Sgt. Vincent Anastasio.
It was around 2:50 a.m. Two beat cops, Brian McDermott and Jason Bandy, were a block and a half away. They rushed to the scene.
EMTs pronounced the victim, 32-year-old Marquis Eaddy, dead at the scene. The girlfriend, who suffered an anxiety attack, went to the hospital.
“Mike did it,” a witness at the scene said. “Mike did it.”
Police learned who Mike is, then put out word in the neighborhood that they needed to see him. Mike, who’s 31, turned himself in at police headquarters later that day. He was charged with murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.
“It was an expertly synchronized investigation,” reported police spokesman Officer David Hartman. “Even the perpetrator’s mother praised police for the professional treatment given her son and family.”
Police Chief Dean Esserman commended the community for providing information and detectives for solving the case so fast. “Within 11 hours we had an arrest,” he said.
Now lets see. They might try to pass a new firearm law, that you can't kill just because he is pass due on a loan. Or let him plea the murder charge in it's place put him in jail because he had a gun.
